Sufi Concert...

Last weekend was very well spent as me and Samira went to the Quli Khan’s Tomb at Qutub Minar for the “Dharohar” Sufi concert as a part of the Times Delhi Festival. (Courtsey : SP Bhaaji)

Though we missed the performances by Wadalis and Sabri Bros on Saturday but still never wanted to miss the sunday's performances by Mangniyars from Rajasthan and Kailash Kher's.

So, after finishing brunch at Tyagi's (Manish & Priyanka) we reached the venue at 5:30 pm. The performance by mangniyars was great as ever with sufi kalams like Dum Mast Qalandar and songs to welcome guests like "Nimbuda" and "Keseriya balam". To add the flavour to the performance there was this jamming session between Khartals and Dholaks, superb it was.

And there comes 4 feet tiny man with tallest name ever "Kailash" with superb voice and awesome aalaps in between. Started performance with sufi songs like tere bin nahin lagda, saiyaan, deewaani. Electric atmosphere it was with great performance by his band.

Thing that amazed me was the kind of interest young guys and gals in his songs which gave me some relief as to still people are interested in listening to songs like "Jaana Jogi de naal" and Allah ke Bande...

To end this :

Chal bullehya othe chaliye jithe wasde anne,
Na koi teri jaat pehchaane na koi tainu manne.

Here baba bulleh shah says that " lets me go to the place where the residents are blind(anne) so that no one can understand the castes or creed and there is no disparity..."
