Jana Jogi de Naal

Yea... it's been quiet sometime that i havn't posted again. Lot of travelling and then work and above all life. I met Amit Khosla on one of my trip to mumbai another fan of Sufi n Khan Saheb (Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan) and it was pleasure to meet Amit bhaaji.

Anyway, i was listening to this amazing qawwali sung by Khan Saheb "Ni Main Jana Jogi de Naal".
It's written by Baba Bulleh Shah and its so awsomely written that its beyond explanation and the way Khan Saheb has sung it, it's amazing. It tells how badly one wants to be with "Jogi". "Jogi" here is HIM but it also can be used for one's beloved.

In this qawwali, lover so much wants to be with the beloved that she is ready to do anything.

Koi Kissay De Naal Koi Kissay De Naal
Per Main Jogi De Naal Naal
Jadon Dee Main Jogi Dee Hoyee
Main Wich Main Na Reh Gayee Koi

(he is trying to say that everyone is with someone or the other but i wanna be just with my beloved. Since when i have given myself to my beloved, there nothing left which i can say its mine everything is HIS only.)

Ranjha Ranjha Karde
Ni Main Aapay Ranjha Hoi
Sadeyo ni Mainu Deedo Ranjha
Heer Na Aakho Koi

Ni Main Jana Jogi De Naal
Kannee Mundaran Pa Ke

(Here he is saying that since when i have started taking his name as "Ranjha" i have started liking only one name and thats his so don't call me call me by my name "Heer" anymore call me "ranjha" only coz it's him only. "Heer-Ranjha" - Famous lovers in culture on punjab)

It's just some part of that qawwali which depicts the kind of love n dedication that was there but i wonder if this makes any sense to anyone today... hehehe ...

Good Human Being...

In recent times, I felt the need of being close to sufism or sufi writings. The reason for that is that people these days are not good at soul, they are fake, but still they would go to all these "Satsangs & Sankirtans" held by all types of gurus and babas but wot they dunn realise is the importance of being good human being first and i really don't know whether all these "Babas" preach that or not.

One of the most important thing that sufism tried to teach was "One should be a good human being at heart" and then only one should look for God because till the time you are not a good human being it makes no difference where you are a priest or a butcher.

As baba bulleh shah wrote:

Je Rub(God) Milda Nahateyaan Dhoteyan,
Te Milda Dadduan(frogs) Macchhian(fishes) nu,
Je Rub Milda Madhi Masani,
Te Milda Chham Chidikhiyaan nu,
Je Rub Milda Jungal Wele,
Te Milda Gauaan Vacchhian nu,
Bulleh Shah Rub Usnu Milda,
Te Niyataan Jinhaan Diyaan Acchhian...

Here baba bulleh shah is trying to say that "if you think that one who takes bath everyday and remains clean gets God then fishes and frogs should get HIM. and if you get to meet GOD only by roaming around in jungle n mountains then cow heards and other animals should get HIM much before then anyone else. But only those who are good at heart get God. So, it is important to be a good human being first.

Comeback...

Here i come back again after years to write something about the subject which I cherish a lot and that was the only reason why i started writing about "Sufism & Sufi Writings". And that's why i am starting it again...

It was a long journey for me to reach the year 2007 where i am
still struggling to take off the loads of my past and present situations. But all through these years i read about suifism and also heard lot of Sufi music especially by Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Saheb(NFAK) , Abida Parveen and Rahat Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan who is successor of NFAK.

But to my own surprise i have become agnostic and stopped believing in GOD, i know lot of you would think that how can i relate to something like sufism or sufi writings then. Well, my answer to that would be that you don't have to believe in the existence of God to understand what people like Amir Khusrau or Baba Bulleh Shah wrote.

Am i making any sense???

Another reason for my comeback is the company of excellent journalists, writers and editors. People like Percy Fernandez, whom i call "Percy Bhai" because he is a man of multiple interests and writes so well. Sandeep Pal, whom i call "Bhaaji (big brother in Punjabi)",
Nidhi Joshi, Shali Ittaman, Kudrat Bhatia, Kanika, Prachi... all of them write so well and they all write in totally different styles.

So i thought let me also start...
